GREASE THE MUSICAL AT LIVERPOOL EMPIRE THEATRE
GREASE THE MUSICAL: RAWD REVIEWS
WRITTEN BY KEZIAH
‘An amazing, heartwarming treat!’
My name is Keziah, welcome to RAWD Reviews! I am writing this review because I love write, see theatre and share my creativity.
On the 28th of May I went to Liverpool Empire Theatre to see Grease The Musical. The show is about a girl called Sandy, played by Hope Dawe, and a boy called Danny played by Marley Fenton, who has a summer romance. But when Sandy moves to the same school, peer pressure and cliques get in the way of their love.
When I got there I was very excited as I have always loved the music in Grease, I was also a little bit unsure as it wouldn't be the original cast. I was very excited and people even came dressed as pink ladies which really added to the atmosphere.
When it finally started I was instantly drawn to the set, they had a window in the center where the DJ was, and the school set was also very realistic as it had real school tables and lockers. I loved how they creatively changed the scenery as the actors would still act like they were part of the show.
In the song Greased lightening me and my mum were amazed when they used a real car and fireworks. The energy the actors and actresses had was contagious and the dancing was amazing, they did so many cool jumps, twists and turns. Another song I loved was Mooning, sang by Roger, who was played by Lewis Day, and Jan played by Emerald B. The song was so cute as it showed them contacting and forming a romance. I loved how Jan was so excited all throughout the song.
One of my favourite actresses was Hope Dawe who played Sandy as her voice was spell blinding and absolutely incredible, she completely owned the stage. In hopelessly devoted to you her high notes blew my mind, she put a lot of emotion into the song.
I also thought that Danny, played by Marley Fenton, was incredible, in his song how big I'm gonna be there was a ladder and platform which he was using to hang off and he was just jumping up platforms which was amazing,he was very acrobatic.
At the end you were allowed to film the Grease megamix and take photos. The audience were having an absolute blast singing and dancing and you could tell the whole cast were enjoying themselves.
The show was definitely a fun delight which shouldn't be missed, I would give it a five out of five, it was an amazing, heartwarming treat and I was smiling all the way through the show....However I do think that you shouldn't have to change for anyone as Sandy seemed to change a lot due to peer pressure and so did Danny.
You should always be yourself and stay true to yourself!

What is a friend?
What is a friend?
A friend is someone who you can dance and laugh with.
A friend is someone who brings happiness and joy.
A friend is someone you can share special memories with and create new adventures with.
A friend is someone who you can share secrets with and have deep conversations with.
A friend is someone who is always there in good times and bad.
This poem is dedicated to my best friends Evie, Melissa and Jordan, and the adventures we have had and will have in the future!
